  • CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates - This program assists neglected and abused children in the court system, serving youngsters in Red Willow, Furnas & Hitchcock counties. For more information you may contact Cathy McDowell, Director, (308) 345-5439.


  • Community Hospital & Auxiliary Volunteerism Auxiliary members perform many services for patients and staff at Community Hospital in addition to supporting the hospital through the donation of funds and equipment. For more information contact Susan Harris-Broomfield, Community Hospital, at (308) 344-8550.


  • Family Resource Center offers 16 separate programs & services to help families in the McCook area. Volunteers are needed for many of these programs, some of which include child care, and for general office help. For more information contact the Family Resource Center at 113 Norris Avenue or call (308) 345-2609.


  • Habitat for Humanity helps build housing for low income families who can't otherwise qualify for a mortgage. Volunteers are needed for fund raising activities, Board of Director positions and various committees as well as for construction of the next home. Contact Habitat for Humanity at P.O.   • Heritage Senior Center The Center has many volunteer opportunities throughout the community. If you would like to contribute and share some of your time to help others, please call the Center at (308) 345-1760.


  • Hormel Family Foundation Business Plan Competition The Hormel Family Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to education, entrepreneurship, and business development in McCook, Nebraska. Founded by entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs, the Hormel Family Foundation seeks to support innovative and hard-working individuals looking to enter into the field of business or technology, while simultaneously giving back to the McCook community.   • McCook Art Guild's Fine Arts Center, 209 Norris Avenue.


  • McCook Humane Society Animal Shelter, 100 South Street, (308) 345-2372. Volunteers are needed to help care for the animals and staff the shelter.


  • Meals on Wheels - The Heritage Senior Center provides home delivered hot lunches to people 60 and older who are unable to prepare their own meals or leave their home. Contact the Center at (308) 345-1760.
