McCook's first YMCA, completed in 1926, was located on Norris Avenue. It had two distinctions. First, it had no dormitory. Second, it was probably the only YMCA that included programs for women.
A new facility was opened in 1981, the Ed Thomas YMCA, located at 901 West E Street. The YMCA has many features, programs and activities for all ages. Some of the features include:
- Indoor pool - 40' x 75', 25 yards long, 6 lanes
- Indoor track
- Racquetball courts - 3 Weight room
- Aerobic equipment - standard & recumbent
- Pool tables - 3
- Ping Pong table
- Gymnasium - basketball & volleyball courts
